Last year the Brat fry raised $4,006.38 for local disaster relief!

Once again this year, the Fond du Lac Fire Department will be “taming the flames” of the barbecue grill to help the American Red Cross help our community.

When: Tuesday, April 22, 2014

Where: Main Street Fire Station (815 S. Main St.)

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Red Cross and the Fire Department are partners on several community initiatives from emergency education to disaster relief and recovery. Emergency responders have requested Red Cross assistance at 24 fires the past year alone! This is the largest number in recent years; a few years ago, it was only seven requests for help. With two recent larger apartment fires, the number of people being assisted is at an all-time high!

“The Red Cross is a tremendous asset to our entire community so we want this event to be our biggest and best yet,” stated Fire Chief Peter O’Leary.

To help the cause, you can pre-order brats and burgers by calling the Main Street Fire Station’s non-emergency number at 920-322-3800 by 9:00 a.m. on April 22.

Delivery is available for orders over 20 items. You can also place an order in-person between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00p.m. at the Main Street Fire Station and enjoy our cuisine at the picnic tables.

Check Presentation - 1

The Goldwing Road Riders Association made a check presentation to the American Red Cross for the brat fries they held May 3rd & 4th and June 28th & 29th in Fond du Lac.

Every year they pick a different organization to  donate the proceeds to from their brat fry sales. The association picked the Red Cross this year because we helped one of their members that was affected by a fire last fall,  and they wanted to return the favor.

They presented the American Red Cross with a check for $900.00  to continue our mission in helping others with disaster relief.

It’s Spring…. Finally! More Cookouts to Celebrate

By David and Jill Krizizke, Chapter C Directors

Brat Fry from 2011

Each year the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Wisconsin Chapter C, holds a Brat Fry with the proceeds shared with a charity of the clubs choice.  Over the past couple of years, the Ability Resource Center ( ARC ) of Fond Du Lac and the Veterans Museum and Education Center of Oshkosh have benefitted from the Brat Fry. One of the goals of our Chapter is to “give Back” to our community.

This year, our Local Area Goldwing Riders had a tragic fire invade one of our members’ homes,  rendering the house a total loss.  One of the responding groups that was on the scene very quickly was the American Red Cross.

So it was proposed by our membership to hold this year’s two Brat Fry’s for the American Red Cross of Northeast Wisconsin.

We are dedicated to work on Friday, May 3 and Saturday May 4, at the Fond du Lac Pick and Save Store on Johnson Street, from 9am to 5pm, to earn funds to support the American Red Cross local disaster relief.   If you would like any information on our on this event or our chapter, please visit our website at www.gwrra-wi-c.com

The Fond du Lac Fire Department and the Fond du Lac Firefighter Local 400 sponsored their 8th annual brat fry to benefit disaster services provided by the local American Red Cross Chapter in Northeast Wisconsin.  At every disaster the Red Cross is there, providing basic needs including food, shelter, emotional support and comfort kits at no cost for those affected by the disaster. The Red Cross also supports emergency response workers by providing food and beverages at the scene of the disaster.

Local Fire Department Invites Community Support for American Red Cross Disaster Relief

Partnership generates greater teamwork for local disaster responses

Once again this year, the Fond du Lac Fire Department will be taming the flames of the grill to help the American Red Cross. On April 27, 2012, the Fond du Lac Fire Department will host a brat fry from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Main Street Fire Station (815 S. Main St.) to support local Red Cross disaster relief as part of the annual Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign.

At every disaster the Red Cross is there, providing basic needs including food, shelter, emotional support and comfort kits at no cost for victims. It is a lesser-known fact that Red Cross also supports emergency response workers by providing food and beverages at the scene of a disaster. Firefighters help the Red Cross in return through their fundraising efforts.

“The Fond du LacFire Department is honored to be teaming up again this year with the Red Cross to serve-up burgers and brats to the community,” Fire Chief Peter O’Leary said. “The Red Cross provides vital resources to those in need. This is our way to say “thank you” to them for their continued partnership in our community.”

Heroes for the American Red Cross is a grassroots campaign that invites local business people, school and church groups, civic clubs and individuals to reach for a $1,000 fundraising goal for their local Red Cross chapter.  Although each chapter sets a different fundraising goal, the need is unanimous: to support Red Cross disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, local Veterans’ Affairs hospitals, life-saving blood collections and research, provide first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information.

The brat fry menu includes hamburgers and brats for $2.50 each. Delivery is available for orders over 20 items. To pre-order, call the Main Street Fire Station’s non-emergency number at 920-322-3800 by 9 a.m. on April 27. This year’s brat fry is proudly sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department.

Fond du Lac Fire Department Brat Fry to Benefit the Red Cross

Fond du Lac Fire Department Supports American Red Cross

Accepting a check for $3,119.50 from the proceeds of the Fond du Lac Fire Department Brat Fry is Sherry Holmes of the American Red Cross.  Making the presentation are Fire Chief Peter O’Leary and Engineer Troy Haase, coordinator for this year’s brat fry that was held on April 29.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Teams (DAT) have a long-standing partnership working to support the emergency response workers by providing food and beverages at the scene of a disaster in addition to the DAT primary purpose of providing assistance to those affected by a disaster. The annual brat fry has been Fire Department’s way to thank the Red Cross for their continuing partnership.

Fond du Lac Fire Department Brat Fry to Support the Red Cross

The City of Fond du Lac Fire Department will be hosting their annual Brat Fry on April 29, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

The Red Cross relies on this brat fry to provide funding toward their mission of assisting the Fond du Lac community in times of need. This event is the largest fundraising effort the Red Cross is involved with throughout the year and the Fond du Lac Fire Department is proud to be associated with this cause.

Home fires are the most common disaster that the Red Cross responds to and also the most preventable.  Families need to take a few simple precautions to avoid tragedies, such as having working smoke alarms on every level of their homes and having family fire escape plans in place to help get everyone out of the house safely.

The Red Cross provides assistance not only to the families involved in fires and other tragedies, but also assists the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department by providing food and beverages to firefighters at emergency scenes.

The American Red Cross, through volunteers, helps prepare communities for emergencies and keep people safe every day thanks to caring people who support them.

You have the power to make a difference in someone’s life. Have lunch on April 29th at the fire department. Every donation helps provide services to those in need. When disaster strikes, your contributions can help bring comfort to those in distress.

To pre-order, please call the Main Street Fire Station’s non-emergency number at 322-3800 by 9 a.m. on April 29th.

Delivery is available for orders over 20 items or you can choose to use the easy and convenient drive-thru service located in the front parking lot of the fire station at 815 S. Main St.

Hamburgers and brats $2.50 each.
